Why I Built LoneWriter
LoneWriter is not a corporate product. It is a personal project born from my own needs as a writing enthusiast and my interest in technology and privacy.
As a developer and narrative enthusiast, I consider it fundamental that the relationship between technology and creativity be balanced and respect human authorship.
Privacy and Sovereignty
I understand that a draft is an intimate workspace. Therefore, I designed LoneWriter under a fundamental premise: absolute data ownership by the user.
- No accounts: No registration or personal data collection is required to use the application.
- No intermediate servers: LoneWriter runs entirely in your browser. Texts are not stored on external servers under my control.
- Technological sovereignty: By opting for local models, information processing stays strictly on the user's device.
AI as an Assistant
The artificial intelligence in LoneWriter has been conceived as a logistical and creative support tool, not as a substitute for the author.
- Data-driven generation: RAG technology allows the system to respond based on the author's notes, minimizing the generation of fictitious information.
- Editorial control: The author maintains final authority over all suggestions and changes proposed by the system.
Open Source Project
As a solo and open-source project, I seek total transparency. The code is available on GitHub for review, allowing verification of data management and fostering continuous improvement of the tools.
"I built the tool that I myself wanted to use to bring my stories to life. I hope you find it very useful."
